... in the wonder of one another, comfort and hope can be found.
There has been far too much sorrow these days. Far too much bad news.
As many of you know, a week and a half ago, JoanMar's much loved eldest child, her daughter who loved to sing, dance, and laugh, who adored her younger siblings, who loved life - passed away without warning.
One minute Joan's beautiful, brilliant, fiercely loving daughter was there. The next - Neki was gone.
It is every loving parent's worse fear, a nightmare from which the heart can not awaken.
Not without comfort and support. Not without caring arms gently enfolding a shattered mother.
And that is what all of you have done.
Over the last several days, we've been doing a fundraiser for Joan so she can bury her beloved child. Like most us, Joan lives pay check to paycheck while supporting her children and family.
It was more than horrific enough that Joan lost her beloved Neki. To not be able to properly say good by to her daughter was a weight no one should have to carry. We started writing diaries to let the community know what had happened to Joan and her family.
Here's the unenviable situation that Joan finds herself in: the funeral costs are going to be between $8,000-$10,000. Even if she is able to borrow about $4,000 from friends and family, she is going to need a minimum of $5,000 to give her daughter a decent burial. This is where we come in - her online brothers, sisters, and extended family.
This community, this amazing, caring community immediately answered the call. This beautiful, wonderful, community met that initial $5,000 goal, went past it, and never looked back. Over the last eight days we have raised a little over ten thousand dollars and eased a mother's heart, the hearts of Joan's younger children, and her family.
We'd like to raise a little more for Joan and her children. On top of the brutal loss of Neki, they're facing financial pressures which we would like to ease - everything from needing new clothes for the funeral, lost income due to lost work time, and eventually, the need for a headstone.
You have already given so much and we are so close to being able to reach the $15,000 goal. Can you give a little more so Joan, her children, and family do not have financial worries added to their grief?

I made another donation today. It's not nearly as large as I'd wish. But I know each and every donation, no matter how small, adds up to something wonderful. I've seen just that happen time and time again. All of you make magic happen. You provide shelter in the midst of the darkest days, a comforting light when only darkness seems possible.
From all of us who have written posts to help our Sister JoanMar, you have our deepest gratitude. We could write a million posts, but without you nothing happens. Your caring matters more than mere words can convey.
Blessings to you and yours, always. May loving mercy always surround us.
Update: Total to date is $10,179.00. Lets keep it going, shall we? Thank you so very much, wonderful ones.
