I am a transwoman. This means that I have a female mind and was born with a male body. I now identify as female while making the effort to change my body to match how my brain says it should be.
This is a medically recognized process that is known to be the only effective treatment without self-destructive side-effects. However, I have recently run into a problem upon looking at my license. This piece of "identification" forces me to lie about my identity by focusing purely on biology. Biology is not who I am!
This is a nationwide issue with transgender people. Most states that even recognize the distinction between sex and gender have SEX as the primary determining characteristic after height, hair color, and eye color. This needs to change. My genitals are not who I am, and are frankly nobody else's business!
Make it gender and give us three options: Male, Female, and Non-Binary. This would allow our IDENTIFICATION to reflect our IDENTITY.
Who's with me on this? How can we make this happen?
