Good morning! Welcome to the DKos Sangha weekly open thread.
This is an open thread for members of the DKos Sangha and others who are interested in discussions concerning how we integrate our progressive political activism into our spiritual practice. If you have observations about the political discourse of the week, or about practice, or about anything else related to walking a spiritual path through the political world, if you wish to share, or if you seek support, or if you simply want to say hello, please do; this space is for you.
If you would like to write a diary for the DKos Sangha, please let me know.
If you care nothing for spiritual practice and only wish to denigrate and disparage, please do so elsewhere, and respect that this is a community diary for the DKos Sangha.

It is always right here. It is not something outside of yourself. It is not something other than yourself. It is closer to you than your own thoughts.
It is that within which everything appears; within which everything happens. From making a sandwich, to watching a movie, to reading an article, to just sitting; everything that happens occurs within this spacious, open, boundless, beingness.
When identification with thought has fallen away, and one has moved ever deeper into this beingness, then thought is increasingly experienced as just something else that happens, like an occasional breeze blowing through an open window, or the songs of birds calling as the first cup of morning coffee is sipped.
And all of it quite natural and ordinary.
And the heart, opening ever deeper, like a thousand petaled lotus; becoming ever more free of the shackles that once bound it so tight. The heart, merging into the ocean of compassion.
It isn't always clear, the way forward. Sometimes we find ourselves vulnerable, made so when our energy is out of balance; and we recognize that we need to be patient, that we need to heal, that we can't force things, that we need to just rest with what is.
And sometimes we get lost in what we think we have to do; again, trying to grasp outcomes. And the body reacts, as it did in the past, so often that the pain seemed normal. But now, it is a sign that we are out of balance; body and mind.
It is time to again be open to what is arising, to welcome that which would seem unwanted. It is a time to be still, to be open, to be loving.
And in this place, within this spacious, free, and boundless beingness, here in this quiet place, love is. Love for all that arises within this being; love for, and as, all beings.
And within this place, we are healed; we move again towards balance. We move forward from here, into what is unknown, and unknowable; deeper into the mystery, the profound and wondrous mystery of who we really are.
It is always right here.

While you're reading the words on this page,
take a moment to stop and
let your eyes rest on just one word
It doesn't matter which one;
and when you have,
let go of any meaning that
might normally be associated with that word
Just noticing the word on the page
Now slightly adjust your attention
to notice the space within which
the word appears
Just noticing the space within which the words appear
Notice that while words seem temporary,
that words seem to move
from one to another
flowing through time
that the space within which the words appear
is still;
unchanging
Notice that the space is that within which words appear
While words can have all kinds of energies
The space is quiet; peaceful
Notice this quiet, peaceful space
Breathe within this quiet peaceful space
Notice that the space is all around you
that the space is within you
that you are not other than the space within which
everything appears
and disappears
that the one constant is
and has always been
this space
within which everything has occurred
this space
so intimately tied to the breath
to your very sense of being in this moment
this space
that is your true self

You are welcome to join us each week in our Monday night group meditation here at DKos Sangha. This online group meditation is hosted by Ooooh, and the diary is posted at 7:00 Eastern. So that we are able to be together for as many here at Daily Kos as wish to participate, the meditation period runs from 7:30 to 11:00 Eastern. This group sitting is open to beginners and advanced, and is not restricted to any particular traditions or practices. It is not expected that you sit for the entire period; sit for as long as you like, when you like. The idea is that we are here together; supporting each other, holding space for each other.

Enjoy your day!
