Re: Georgetown speech
Dear Sir,
I don't know why you feel the need to go out and defend your economic policies, unless you are insecure about what you did. We all know the 90s were good years, in some ways because of your policies and in some ways in spite of them. But I can tell you right now, if your wife is going to resell that same agenda of free trade, deficit cutting, and tax cuts, she is going to have to explain how those policies are any different from President Obama's which clearly are not working. President Obama has followed the exact prescription for Clintonism that you put forward in the 1990s. Those days are over because those policies dont work NOW.
Spare me the retelling of the 90's. I was there.
Mrs. Clinton is going to need a new agenda for these times, not a rehash of things we already know arent working. Her agenda needs to be all about widely shared rapid economic growth. I'm not stupid. I get that your wife is close to Wall Street and will look out for them. No New York Senator would do otherwise. I also get that you all wont attack the rich since youre now pretty goddamn rich yourselves. Congratulations, by the way. But times have changed and she is going to need something new to sell the American people because 90's nostalgia isnt going to do. We need a new agenda for these times.
So, l'd suggest, respectfully, that you devote that amazing mind of yours to some new ideas about how to bring about robust growth, full employment, higher wages, and better living standards. Please leave the drivel about job training out of the mix because that is most assuredly not the problem. But other than that, I'm all ears and willing to listen.
Sincerely yours,
bbb
