For the WTF file:
The Democratic Party’s biggest super PAC, recently retooled as an early pro-Hillary Clinton effort, will sit out the midterm elections this year.
A spokesman with the group, Priorities USA Action, confirmed to BuzzFeed on Wednesday night that it would not be involved in House or Senate campaigns.
That's right, folks. The organization with the biggest bankroll of all the Democratic PACs will be sitting on its collective asses until 2016.
However, they did throw the rest of us schmucks, who consider EVERY election important, a tiny crumb:
Sources close to the group say its leaders considered helping Democrats in House and Senate races approaching this fall.
(bolding is mine)
How kind of them to "consider" getting involved (snark definitely intended). They actually thought about lifting a tiny finger to help those of us slogging it out on the front lines. I hope they're not exhausted from the few seconds they gave us in that "consideration".
What's wrong with these people?
Putting all their money on the Presidential race in 2016 isn't just foolish, it's disastrous.
Haven't they seen how a Republican minority in the Senate and their majority in the House can stop, block, obfuscate, manipulate, and control everything? My God, they've stopped Unemployment Compensation, cut the hell out of food stamps, slashed Meals on Wheels, Head Start, veterans benefits, and that's with Dems controlling the Senate AND the White House! Imagine how bad things would be with only the Presidency in Democratic hands.
With the Koch Brothers and their RW billionaire buddies dropping Brinks trucks full of money all around the country, do the political geniuses at Priorities USA think we're even going to keep a Senate majority without everyone doing everything possible? We saw the effects of Citizens United on the mid term elections in 2010 and the results weren't pretty.
Yes, it matters who the President is, but how much good is it to have a Democrat in the White House when the Kochs own Congress and the tea bagger agenda really prevails? Putting the largest resource behind one single Presidential election is what got us the 2010 disaster and it looks like that's the plan again.
I worked my ass off in 2010 Wisconsin with little to no help from the national Dems or Barack Obama and I've lived with the RW results. I see 2014 going the same way unless the Dems wake up and get with the program. If they don't, I think many activists might just surrender early and save the last bits of our strength. We're going to need it.
