I am EXTREMELY ANGRY about my Rep voting against Sandy funding...Especially since he is the ONLY Democrat to do so.
Below the fold is my email to him.
Forgive the brevity, but I am currently in a bit of a white heat.
I am EXTREMELY angry and disappointed that you would vote against disaster aid for the areas affected by Hurricane Sandy. I thought Americans were supposed to support each other in times of need. Being a transplant from Florida, but a permanent Tennessee citizen now, I lived through hurricanes that devastated the area for years. The least we can do is support our fellow Americans when they are in need.
I am sick of all this stupidity in congress right now. And I am extra sickened that you would cast a vote such as this.
I understand the desire to watch spending...but this is not the time. Especially when institutions will PAY us right now to borrow money from us. With the low interest rates and inflation, the Federal government can borrow money for FREE right now. We should be doing that to fund INFRASTRUCTURE products that stimulate job creation.
You need to think about the people in your city and state who are needing employment. You need to think about our neighbors who need us to step up. They would do the same for us...and I seem to recall they DID STEP UP FOR US a few years ago when we had the major flooding.
You need to remember who you are in congress representing. I have a feeling you are starting to forget.
Stop buying into the "Beltway Common Wisdom" because it is neither common nor wise. We need to fund education, infrastructure, research, and get our country back to where all have a chance at the American Dream.
And by the way, part of the American Dream is believing we are the type of society that looks out for each other.
Thank you for your time.
