I know it's considered bad form to title a diary with a question, but I couldn't think of anywhere to ask without it being off-topic. I want to discuss Colorado's chances for the 2012 election. Not just president, but House of Rep seats, and general assembly.
So the last poll of Colorado had Romney and Obama tied, I believe. However, I believe the poll was by a newish untried pollster. PPP had Obama well ahead before that poll, and I'm more inclined to believe PPP's results. I think Obama will win Colorado. I think we all believe that. Just wanted to get the presidential thing out of the way before I delve into what I really want to discuss.
I was just reading up on the redistricting of Colorado, and I was quite glad that it seems we have a good map, thanks to the Colorado Supreme Court. Colorado's districts currently have 3 Democrats and 4 Republicans representing them. To me it seems that the 3rd and 6th districts, both of which are currently represented by newer Republicans, were made to be more Democrat leaning than they were. I'm wondering, since I haven't heard much about our candidates there, if we have a good chance of taking back one or both of those seats. I don't think we really have a shot at the 2 other districts, one being the Colorado Springs district, which we could probably never win. On the other hand, it doesn't look like we'll lose any of our 3 either.
Now, on to the General Assembly. We control 20 of the 35 seats of the Senate, but only 32 of the 65 in the House. What are the races looking like here? Are we looking at taking back the House? Any ideas?
I know Colorado hasn't really been polled this cycle, but hopefully this starts some discussion.
