It's time to begin!!
Since a couple of weeks ago, when the idea of doing 2 quilts was approved, thinking has happened.
DK Quilt Guild: A place for quilters to gather, share ideas, projects, and to make the world a better place, one quilt at a time. Join us and share your thoughts, projects, questions, and tips. Quilters here are at many different levels of skill. Beginners and non-quilters are welcome, too.
What's been determined is to create and auction a quilt for Okiciyap Food Pantry and Youth Center, the foodshelf that provides so much more than food to the Isabel community on the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota.
Okiciyap DKos group was formed to support the pantry, and has taken the lead in collecting food and school supplies.
Melanie in IA has graciously offered to piece and sew the top. When a block is completed, please kosmail her for an address. The current general timeline is Melanie would appreciate having the blocks by the end of November, and having the quilt completed closer to March.
As to colors, that is kind of up in the air. The logo includes yellow, tan, red, black and white, but other colors are good for accents. Maybe discussion in the comments will clarify.
Sara R also has a great project idea which she will be unveiling in a future diary.
Regarding the reservation, I know there was discussion of having voter registration at Indian Health Service hospitals. Does anyone know if that was ever resolved?
I think the funnest thing about these quilts is the variety of patterns and fabric involved. With the number of people who have already responded, I think this will be GREAT!!!!
Oh, I will be here until about 5:40 pm CDT, then need to be gone for about an hour. I will be back after that to reply to comments.
