Happy New Year!
I've uploaded a new version (2.2.19) of Dave's Redistricting, which enables
(a) Extra data sets to be loaded and
(b) Alaska to be redistricted.
The one extra data set so far is Texas Voter Registration, which shows the percentage of Spanish surname voter registrations in each voting district. This data was gathered, naturally, by roguemapper! This data is relevant to the current litigation over Texas redistricting.
Also, roguemapper has provided corrected presidential data for MO and NV and new presidential data for ND and HI.
More about the new feature below.
To add the Texas Voter Reg data, I enabled the app to load an arbitrary number of extra data sets for the selected state. Each data set is appended to the tooltip for each voting district and to the aggregated District data panel. You'll notice that now every section in that panel can be minimized.
Thus, if roguemapper or any of you have additional data for a state that you think is important enough that everyone working on the state should see it, you can send it to me for inclusion on the server. In the future, I hope to enable you to load a local data set, but this will take more thought and work.
In either case the data will have to conform to a certain format, which is
1) File is a CSV (comma separated value file).
2) Row 1 has some description
a) Column 1 is a string with the Title and optionally a Short Title in parentheses (e.g. "Registered Voters (Voters)").
b) Column 2 is a tool tip.
c) Column 3 is a boolean; TRUE (case ignored) means the 1st data column is a total and for all other columns a percentage of that total should be shown.
3) Row 2 has column headers.
4) Row 3+ is the data.
a) Each row corresponds to a voting district of block group.
b) Column 1 must be the GEOID that identifies the voting district or block group.
c) Columns 2+ are the data.
Enjoy!
