Presidential results by congressional district - an extremely handy tool that everyone loves to use. Unfortunately, they are a serious pain in the ass to compute, as we learned when we compiled them ourselved after the 2008 election. It was a good learning experience, though, because now we have to do it all over again as redistricting washes over the nation. We've been posting them piecemeal as final maps get adopted, but now we've consolidated everything into one place:
Post-Redistricting Presidential Results by CD
Note that there are two tabs. The first shows the results we've compiled so far. Not including the single-district states (of which there are seven), six states have finished the redistricting process. We've done four of them (AR, IA, LA & OK) and are working hard on the two remaining ones (IN & MO). The second tab contains links to our calculations for each state, so that you can double-check our math if you like. As before, when we crunched the 2008 numbers, we're striving to be as maximally transparent as possible. There are also some hidden bonuses in those source data spreadsheets: In many cases, we've also calculated results for other races. For instance, for Louisiana, we've also included 2010 Senate and LG breakdowns.
Anyhow, we plan to keep updating this chart until the last state finishes implementing new maps. We're also keeping rough track of where each state stands on federal redistricting in this spreadsheet:
Redistricting Tracker
The only real statuses we're tracking are whether maps have been formally introduced in the state legislature, and whether map is final. (Again, this is only for congressional maps.) We record the date that a map goes final so that, at the end, we'll have a timeline of when each state finished its process. In the far-right columns, you'll also see deadline info (such as it exists), which was taken from Ballotpedia.
Questions, comments, suggestions always welcome!
