Democrats won a State Senate race in Cajun Country in Southern Louisiana today (District 20). Democrat Norby Chabert defeeated Republican Brent Callais. Republicans had been crowing about their chances at picking up the seat of St. Senator Regre Dupre, who resigned his seat to take another job.
This seat is in the heart of Congressman Charlie Melancon's Third District, who is leaving the seat to challenge Sen. David Vitter.
