Saw the head line on CNN and dug to find the AP article. Guess we were a little too slow on that front.
The article and more on the flip side.
Source: Twin Cities win Gop Convention.
Will we also pick the Twin Cities? I do not think so, especially since our convention ends only 3 days before the GOP one begins. Has the ever been a time when the conventions were in the same location?
That means it is down to Denver and NY. As much as we would love to see it elsewhere (like New Orleans) it is offically down to those two cities.
To me, the answer is obvious.
We must go with Denver.
I love New York with my heart and soul. But it's time to present a different face. It is time to expand outward. I know Denver has issues. Apparently their bid was poor and there's a lack of union hotels. But with the blue tide sweeping through Denver and the West, it's time we go there to recognize it. Let's head West to acknowledge the shift from red to blue that CO has under gone in the past few years.
I support Denver for the Dem convention in 2008. How about you?
UPDATE: Apparently, as msn1 says below, the Democrats cannot pick the Twin Cities now, due the fact that they require exculsivity. From the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal:
Minneapolis and New York are also bidding for the Democratic National Convention for 2008. The Democrats require exclusivity, which would eliminate either from GOP consideration if selected by the Democrats first.
