Billionaire Ken Langone
In a top one percent
puff piece:
Langone, the billionaire Home Depot co-founder, was at it again at SALT, telling attendees that they should be proud to be in the 1 percent because, while “money doesn’t buy happiness, try poverty. That doesn’t do very well either.”
Yes, jerkoff. Poverty doesn't do very well. In fact, im sure there are plenty of Home Depot workers toiling in Langone's shit stores for poverty wages not doing very well. I don't think they are doing it because they are giving poverty a test drive. They are doing it because uberdouches like Langone would rather enrich themselves to the point of ridiculous rather than pay their workers enough money to not live in poverty. Worse, Langone wants to rub it in with maximum asshole on display.
In the old days, say for example the French And Russian Revolutions, the poor dealt with people like Ken Langone in ways I think are entirely appropriate. Lucky for him, modern generations of the poor aren't as angry and ready to do any of that. But if the top 1% and their sycophants keep it up, they are going to find out just how clearly outnumbered they are. And how their lack of concern for their fellow man inevitably comes back around to prove more costly than just a smidgen of compassion.
