I'm finally completely fed up with my congressman. I've written him before urging him to take one position or another on key issues. More often than not he has disappointed me.
It never occurred to me that I should urge him to support relief for the victims of hurricane Sandy. His no vote is beyond the pale.
Below the squiggle is the text of the letter I submitted to him via his web page "Contact Jim" link.
If you're a fellow TN-05 democrat, please follow suit with some sort of admonition. He needs to know how badly he screwed this one up.
I'm appalled by the Congressman's failure to support disaster relief for the victims of hurricane Sandy. I understand America's tight finances and budget, but $51 billion is a pittance in comparison to the money being funneled to corporate America via tax breaks, loopholes, bailouts and outright corporate welfare.
Though I have often been disappointed by his position on the issues I have supported and voted for him in every election since moving to Nashville seven years ago. For him to vote no on Sandy disaster relief after the federal government stepped in to help Nashville in 2010 is simply shameful.
I'll not be voting for Congressman Cooper in the future. I will support any and all primary challengers, and I will find other candidates to vote for in future general elections.
I appreciate the Congressman's long service to Nashville, Tennessee, and our nation, but I believe it's time for a change.
