Like many of you, I've been concerned at the erosion of civil liberties under the current administration, and I've been working hard to ensure that an appropriate balance is reached between protecting America's values and protecting its physical security.
A few days ago, Joe Lieberman, Scott Brown, Charlie Dent, and Jason Altmire took a step in a direction, by introducing the Enemy Expatriation Act which would revoke citizenship for Americans who engage in terrorist activities.
My first impression is that by allowing the executive branch to determine if a Citizen is engaging in, or purposefully and materially supporting, hostilities against the United States, it may become a rubber stamp. On the other hand, this process is consistent with the existing process, and the suspect has the option to appeal to a federal district court.

Right now I support this legislation, but I'm open to hearing from smarter people than myself.
