So for dedicated Swingnuts, you'll know that a United States congressional district is roughly 650,000 people. But in Canada, their districts, called "ridings" are only about 110,000 people. They also have names, as opposed to boring ol' numbers. And there was a brief string of diaries both on SSP and DKE about redistricting states, riding-style.
Well, for my very first diary ever, I thought I'd do a few small states. I started with states with only one congressional district. In this part, I'll run down North Dakota, South Dakota and Vermont.
None of these states have political data in DRA, and I have no clue about local politics, so if any native or knowledgeable people would want to suggest candidates and leanings of these ridings, feel free!
Let's go!
First, North Dakota (variance between smallest and largest riding: 496)
North Dakota, with a population of 672,600, would get six ridings.
