"We've got a Democratic Party, Republican Party, a Tea Party. We need a Jobs Party."
Rep. Jackson's statement will hit a nerve with many unemployed who feel ignored and abandoned by those they elected. His rhetorical Jobs Party could attract quite a few members, since nationally there are nearly 15 million unemployed, 2.5 million workers who believe the job market is so bad that they have stopped looking for work and another 9 million who are working part-time but want full time work. 26.5 million unemployed/underemployed could make the Jobs Party a force.

Congress must make the jobs crisis a priority, since the unemployment problem is rapidly evolving into an unemployment nightmare for millions of Americans. A real economic recovery is not possible without a strong job market.

Finally!
JACKSON SUBMITS RESUMES [to Congress] TO DRAMATIZE UNEMPLOYMENT
Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. released a statement today which is a follow-up to his request for the unemployed and underemployed to send in their resumes for placement in the Congressional Record: Rep. Jackson Jr. receives 15,000 resumes from jobless "We need a Jobs Party". Rep. Jackson's office offered a clarification about the number of resumes received to date; they have received 8,000-10,000, but they are hoping to receive 15,000 or more.
JACKSON SUBMITS RESUMES TO DRAMATIZE UNEMPLOYMENT
Today, Congressman Jesse L. Jackson, Jr. issued the following statement:
[...] [FDR] called for an economic bill of rights that would provide fundamental economic security to all Americans through the right to a job, the right to health care, the right to a good education, and other rights.
[...]
"67 years later, to dramatize the shameful jobs condition that our nation and the marketplace tolerates, I have asked the nation's unemployed, underemployed and economically insecure to send their resumes to me at resumesforAmerica@mail.house.gov.
"Then, I will submit them to the Congressional Record on their behalf as a means of protesting our unaddressed, shameful unemployment problem.
"I am not promising anyone a job, I just believe that the wealthiest nation in the world should do something about the jobs loophole in our freedom construct. Until Democrats and Republicans in Congress or the White House eliminate the fear of unemployment from our freedom and liberty construct, I will continue this peaceful demonstration by accepting resumes at resumesforAmerica@mail.house.gov.
"To paraphrase Martin Luther King, Jr., If America can put a man on the moon, and if today we can contemplate putting men and women on Mars, then we should be able to put a man or a woman on their own two feet right here in America."
Rep. Jackson Jr. "Peaceful Protest of Unemployment Problem Will Continue"

Nice imagery. It is possible. If we set the priority. If we start treating the displaced unemployed, as if they mattered. Not as simply another one of those issues that will take care of itself -- someday.
Like it or not -- the Unemployed are not simply going away! They got nowhere to go.
Sadly, the plight of the Unemployed is staged to get worse, before it gets better -- much worse:

The Unemployment Echo of the 99ers is about to get Louder
by jamess -- Dec 22, 2010
Say hello to the continuing Echo of those pesky 99ers. Millions More about to join their ranks. More People who just want gainful employment.
Millions More who just want a shot at the American Dream, again. Is that asking too much? If we could put a Man on a Moon, we should be able to put a 99er in a Job!
The crisis is serious. The response to the crisis MUST be equally SERIOUS ...
Some Politicians get it ...
PELOSI: Absolutely. Actually, President Obama was a job creator from day one. Because of initiatives he took when he became president and his recovery package and other federal action, 3 1/2 million jobs were either created or saved. Economists say that without those initiatives, instead of 9 1/2, unacceptable, 9 1/2 percent unemployment we would have 14 1/2 percent unemployment in our country, a depression. So he has created more jobs and last year than were created more private sector jobs than were created in the eight years of the Bush administration. It is not enough. It is certainly not enough but he's on the right path.
VAN SUSTEREN: It isn't enough. 9.4 is still unacceptable. We are not creating jobs as fast as we are getting more people entering or wanting to enter the workforce. This is an emergency. While I have an appreciation for the jobs he's created, we need more work. We need something faster.
PELOSI: Well we need the Republicans in the senate, as they had held up the jobs initiative before it was the just say no to jobs party. Now let's hope that with the president's initiative tonight, I don't think there was anything partisan about what he put forth in terms of rebuilding America, educating our children, investing in innovation that we can't find common ground to go forward to create these jobs. He talked about doing it, working to the, with ideas that we could share to create these jobs. We must do it.
Pelosi on State of the Union: Obama Was 'Job Creator' from 'Day One'
Fox News, On The Record, Greta Van Susteren -- Jan 25, 2011
More smoke-in-mirrors won't cut it. Sending more work to China won't cut it.
Re-Employing the Un-employed HERE in this Country -- with the Jobs to rebuild the Nation, with the Jobs of the Future -- THAT is what the Doctor is prescribing.
Question is, Will the just Say No to Jobs Party in the Congress take the steps required, to strengthen the Nation?
Or will they just continue to ignore the millions in search of "that Opportunity", they are always so "exceptionally" keen on talking about.

"We've got a Democratic Party, Republican Party, a Tea Party. We need a Jobs Party."
That is indeed a VERY true statement -- The American People ALWAYS need someone to stand up for OUR own best interests. The interests of the "least among us" -- NOT the interests of those with the most.
But the chances of a "Jobs Party" spontaneously forming, seem remote, at best -- Afterall America is not Egypt, is it? Too many arm-chair quarterbacks in this country, to risk it all, on simply principle.
But despite that permanent state of molasses we find ourselves in, here is another bit of hopeful news, that might finally break up that Not-Enough-Jobs in America Logjam. Maybe ...
Senator Bernie Sanders released the following statement:
WASHINGTON, Feb. 4 – Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has been appointed to the Joint Economic Committee of Congress, a select panel made up of members from both houses of Congress.
The committee is composed of 10 members each from the Senate and the House of Representatives. It was established by the Employment Act of 1946 to make a continuing study of matters relating to the U.S. economy. The committee holds hearings, performs research and advises members of Congress.
"At a time when unemployment is high and the middle class is struggling, it’s imperative that we develop economic policies that grow the economy, create good paying jobs, and lower the poverty rate. Membership on the JEC will give me an opportunity to play a role in that process," said Sanders.

Now THAT's something! Way to go Bernie Sanders!
We'll be rooting for you. Just like you'll be fighting for us.
We need to be counted. We need to count.
We are Real People, with Real Stories. Someday soon, those stories will be told.
It is the American PEOPLE that make this Country strong! When we are given the Opportunity to do so ...
-- It's NOT the Multi-National Companies, that would happily break up America and sell it for parts ... if they continue to be given the Opportunity, to Outsource everything.
Haven't we had enough of the Party of Outsourcing ?
It IS long past time for a real Jobs Party -- with a real Economic Bill of Rights to stand up for the people that actually make the Country work:
