Today's Alternet has just posted a story by Steven Rosenberg who has worked with the freepress.org team in Columbus, Ohio which has done the most significant and accurate work about what happened in Ohio's 2004 election:

It seems that our new Secretary of State, Jennifer Brunner, has learned, in the wake of the September, 2006 court order to the 88 county boards to preserve their 2004 ballots pending investigations, that some or all of the ballots have been lost in 56 of the 88 counties. Rosenberg cites especially such counties as Butler, Warren and Clermont where irregularities already uncovered by the freepress.org make it likely that this is where the 2004 election was stolen.
THIS, and not red herrings like non-existent purge drives (although yes, there was definitely some purging) and the conviction of election board underlings in Cuyahoga County, is truly truly significant. This is the destruction of the evidence that could prove whether the 2004 election here was stolen or not.
Please go read this story. We've had a lot of alarmist, make-something-out-of-nothing Ohio elections diaries here but Rosenberg is delivering dead-on facts here.
Oh God, I want to see Ken Blackwell in prison!
