I was out canvassing for Lois Murphy in Lower Merion Township, what should be a hugely positive part of the PA-06 district, and yet I ran into a fair bit of negative vibes due to the incessant negative ads and robo-calls.
Granted most of the dreck is coming from the GOP, but regardless, it'll hurt us in 2 weeks, suppressing turnout among soft D's, I's and moderate R's.
I therefore believe it's extremely important for independent expenditures in this and similar Congressional races to be 100% on positive messages focused on why a Democratic House and Senate would be good for America, good for voters, on why to vote for the Democrat in the race.
Unfortunately, this is not the case so I'm looking to the DKos community for help - assuming folks concur with my assessment (which I think finds support from
DemFromCT in
this post) - in getting this feedback to decision makers at the DCCC, MoveOn and any other outfit that's making substantial indpendent buys for ads, mail and/or phone efforts.
Please post your thoughts on my assessment and most importantly what you and others can do or have done to move the ball forward.
[Update] I should have mentioned that in-district polling appears to substantiate the assessment that negative ads against the GOP don't help. Positive ads do.
