  •  At least Russ Feingold didn't sell himself out... (4+ / 0-)

...and Feingold is often (incorrectly) portrayed as a Wisconsin version of Dennis Kucinich.

    •  Feingold's no Kucinich (4+ / 0-)

But his post-Senate activities puzzle me. His greatest gifts were electioneering (2010 notwithstanding) and political courage, but he oddly decided to try to be an organizing guy? Almost everything I've read about how he was perceived in Washington as a Senator has variations of "loner" in it. I don't blame him for not running for WI-Gov because FSM knows how lousy I'd be running for anything, but I feel like the equivalent would be Steven Tyler retiring from music and then trying to sell books of poetry.

      •  Peter Barca would be a better candidate for WI-Gov (2+ / 0-)

Russ Feingold hasn't been involved in state-level politics since he was a state senator from western Dane County in the early 1990's, so he would be perceived as "out of the loop" if he were to run for a state executive post. On the other hand, Barca (who was a 3/4 term Congressman from WI-1 in the mid-1990's who got swept out by the 1994 GOP wave by Republican Mark Neumann) is now the Democratic floor leader of the Wisconsin State Assembly, so he'd be more "in the loop" regarding to state matters than Feingold would be.
