      Sandoval crushed Gibbons in the primary 55.5% to 27.2%.  So if a challenger to Scott can effectively highlight his corruption or call into question his electability, they might have an opening, but Scott's endless cash makes that highly unappealing.

        If there's proof that Scott is a creepy, violent, corrupt nutcase, then you don't really need ideological grounds.

        Gibbons' personal corruption had severely pissed off much of his own party.  Scott isn't in the same boat.  GOP voters are uncommonly leery of him because of his unpopularity with the general population, and thus is ability to win, than with him personally.
